Well on the weekend of the 19th of October, Will and I went to one of, if not, the coolest, most enjoyable motorcycle weekends I have personally ever been to. It was the KOTH hillclimb near Murrambateman (Which is near everybody’s favourite place, Canberra). It was the first of this event and most certainly won’t be the last.
Firstly, to the organisers and the property owner, I’d like to let everyone know what a truly amazing job they have done. Also, to the flag girl who stood there eating dust all day still with a smile on her face. Nothing short of a first-class event! I also know after talking to Chop Harris, the man behind the dream of KOTH, that it would not have been remotely possible without an incredible group of sponsors.
I don’t think many of the competitors (About 50) thought for one minute it was going to be such an epic weekend.
There were around 700 spectators through the gate whom I am sure had just as good of a time as we did.
I competed on a 1958 Panhead in a rigid frame that I put together in the 8 weeks leading up to the event. Made it to the top 4 times myself then handed it over to Will who smoked up there half a dozen times, (Ah, youth).
Note: The man in the air is Chris, a mate of ours. Departing with his Knucklehead. We shared a pit tent and he also rode a sporty drag bike up as well.
If you would like to see more of the event, let us know and we will endeavour to
What a day
